Bank of Georgia Creates Educational Opportunities – Chevening Scholars Announced

As a leading private financial institution, Bank of Georgia continues to actively create new opportunities for ambitious, talented, and hardworking young people, aiming to increase their access to quality education.

In line with this mission, Bank of Georgia supports the Chevening Scholarship program in Georgia in partnership with the UK Government. This means that young people who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in the UK have the opportunity to receive funding, study at top global universities, and unlock limitless opportunities.

With the Bank’s support and financial assistance, 23 outstanding students have already pursued their studies in the UK. This year, three new scholarship recipients have joined their ranks: Sopho Japaridze, Giorgi Kvinikadze, and Mariam Shurgaya.

  • Sopho Japaridze will study Cybersecurity Management at the University of Warwick.
  • Giorgi Kvinikadze will pursue a degree in Data Science and Machine Learning at University College London (UCL).
  • Mariam Shurgaya will also attend UCL, where she will study Leadership in Education.

It’s worth noting that through the Chevening Scholarship program, Bank of Georgia not only funds tuition but also covers monthly stipends, travel expenses, dissertation/thesis grants, and visa fees for the winners.

“As a private financial institution with a strong sense of corporate social responsibility, Bank of Georgia aims to make quality education more accessible to young people. We support and implement a number of projects to achieve this goal. One of the key initiatives is the Chevening Scholarship Program. To date, we have given 23 exceptional, driven, and hardworking young people the opportunity to study at some of the world’s most prestigious universities. We are pleased to see growing interest in the program each year because we believe that educated and ambitious youth are the foundation of a better future. That’s why we remain committed to supporting initiatives that increase access to quality education,” – said Ana Lomtadze, Head of CSR at Bank of Georgia.

Applications for the 2024–2025 academic year will open in early August and close in early November 2023.
